Golfing

There are 10 golf courses in North Devon within 40 minutes drive of the hotel, ranging from a 9 hole course (no handicap required) to the 3 championship courses.   Some of the closest  are Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Morthoe, Saunton, Westward Ho!.

Out and About

Although Ilfracombe has a lot to offer, to ensure a really varied and enjoyable holiday you should visit some of the other attractions that the area has to offer.  There is a good regular bus service from Ilfracombe to Barnstaple which has excellent public transport links to further afield.  There are also a regular bus services to Appledore, Bideford, Coombe Martin, Mortehoe, Woolacombe, Lynton and Lynmouth and Berrynabour. 

Clay Pigeon Shooting

There are two outstanding shooting grounds North Devon Shooting Ground and South West Shooting within a few miles as well as several others available in South Devon. These grounds cater for everyone who enjoys this great sport—from total novice to expert with tuition available.

Angling

Sea Fishing Trips are a speciality in Ilfracombe, as well as Course Fishing, Fly Fishing and Freshwater Fishing, all within a 15 mile radius, plus Trout Water at Blakewell. All available 12 months a year. Check out South West Lakes Trust, Exmoor National Park and Blakewell Fishery

Horse Riding & Quad Bikes

There are several good riding stables within easy travelling distance of Ilfracombe - proving for all ages and riding abilities—equipment provided.  Some of the stables also offer quad biking for those who prefer to be closer to the ground.

For the Children

There is plenty to entertain the children too.  There are two large Entertainment Parks—The Big Sheep and The Milky Way.  Or if you prefer animal parks, there is the Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park or Exmoor Zoo.  Or perhaps Ten Pin Bowling in Barnstaple or Woolacombe.

Retail Therapy

Although there are many shops in Ilfracombe, if you want some serious retail therapy then you can have a very happy day in Barnstaple which is only 30 minutes by bus, or visit Atlantic Village in Bideford which is a factory outlet centre with some great bargains—or Bideford itself which is smaller than Barnstaple but a lovely setting.

Walking and Cycling

Apart from the famous Torrs walks which are only a couple of 100 yards away, the Tarka Trail and Exmoor National Park are within easy distance from Ilfracombe and very popular with both walkers and cyclists. If you would like to hire cycles, there are several hire places—the nearest being Otter Cycles in Braunton.
